• Fundraising & Communications Specialist

    The Georgina Community Food Pantry (GCFP) is seeking a part-time Fundraising and

    Communications Specialist who is passionate about our mission, which is to provide dignified access

    to good food that nourishes our community and inspires change. This flexible role offers the

    possibility of hybrid or remote work.

    Work Term: Permanent part-time with a six-month probationary period

    Work Hours: up to 20 hours per week, flexible hours

    Compensation: $33 per hour plus Health Spending Account

    Report to: Operations Manager

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    This role is responsible for developing all fundraising, marketing, public relations, and

    communications initiatives to increase philanthropic support and community engagement. The

    Fundraising and Communications Specialist acts as the primary storyteller, ensuring cohesive

    messaging that drives tangible actions.
     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     Education: College or University degree in Marketing, Communications, Non-Profit

    Management, or a related field.

     Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive, hands-on experience covering both nonprofit

    development/fundraising and integrated digital marketing/communications.

     Core Competencies: Strategic planning, financial acumen, exceptional relationship building,

    and strong written/interpersonal communication skills.

     CRM and Data Management: Experience with Canada Helps Customer Relationship

    Management (CRM) and fundraising platform, ensuring data integrity, running reports to

    analyze giving trends, and building audience segmentation preferred.

     Google Ad Grant: Demonstrated skill in utilizing and managing the Google Ad Grant to drive

    traffic, optimize SEO, and acquire new donors/volunteers preferred.

     Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously,

    delivering against objectives.Core Responsibilities (Digital, Development, and Operations)
     

    I. Fundraising and Development Strategy

     Develop and execute the comprehensive annual fundraising plan in collaboration with the

    Operations Manager and Fundraising Committee.

     Coordinate digital campaigns (e.g., Giving Tuesday) and traditional direct mail appeals.

     Lead a defined donor cultivation and stewardship plan, including personalized

    communications, event invitations, and timely, customized gift acknowledgement.

     Maintain the Donor Management System (Canada Helps).

     Support the Operations Manager in high-level fundraising, including prospect research on

    capacity (wealth) and affinity.

     Collaborate with the Operations Manager to conduct research on prospective government,

    corporate, and foundation grant funders, prepare necessary supporting materials and reports,

    and manage the development of grant proposals.
     

    II. Communications, Content, and Digital Marketing

     Work with the Operations Manager to develop and share stories across digital platforms,

    conducting interviews and capturing compelling stories of impact (photos and videos) with food

    recipients, donors, staff, and volunteers.

     Serve as webmaster (Go Daddy), ensuring content is fresh, improving search engine visibility,

    and building campaign-specific landing pages to increase engagement and conversions.

     Plan, execute, and evaluate social media strategies across all relevant platforms, including

    managing the editorial calendar, active engagement, and tracking growth analytics.

     Administer the mass-email program, managing segmentation strategies and

    designing/distributing solicitation and non-solicitation newsletters.

     Create high-quality digital and print collateral (flyers, banners, event signage) using graphic

    design tools (e.g. Canva) to minimize reliance on external contractors.
     

    III. Administration, Events, and Community Engagement

     Coordinate the planning, initiation, and execution of all fundraising and cultivation events,

    under the guidance of the Operations Manager and Fundraising Committee.

     Manage inquiries from external parties organizing third-party events, food drives, or campaigns

    to benefit the Pantry.

     Support the Operations Manager to draft press releases, actively monitor media coverage, and

    proactively seek interview and speaking opportunities for key staff/Board members.

     Support to the Board of Directors’ Fundraising Committee, facilitating meetings, recording

    activities, and providing necessary information and reporting as required.

     Maintain internal communications to keep staff informed, collaborate with program staff to

    gather content, and manage a shared digital asset archive.
