    Before summer comes to a close make sure to get your fill of fun before it’s back to school and sweater weather season! Georgina is a great place to spend time in your community and with your friends and family exploring local attractions and businesses! Our Summer Tourism Information Officer Hailey Allen gives you a glimpse of a few activities you must experience before this summer season comes to an end!

     


    Visit a Sunflower Farm

    Georgina is home to a variety of farms available to visit, one of our most popular during this time of year is the sunflower farm! Old Homestead Sunflowers located at Old Homestead Rd and Warden Avenue is open to the public and makes for a great family outing! You can tour the farm and take pictures with the large and vibrant florals! Admission is $10/vehicle.
     


    Apple Picking 

    Want to spend more time outside? Georgina's very own Homestead Orchard is proclaiming apple season has arrived. Paulareds and Gingergold are now available for picking. These as well as Gravenstin are now available in-store. Homestead Orchards is located at 3961 Old Homestead Road, Sutton West! Stop by for an afternoon you won't regret, we promise you will leave with a smile and a sweet taste!     Hit the Beach

    De La Salle Beach and Park is one of Georgina's most popular tourism locations and a great way to spend an afternoon in the sun! The beach has plenty of sand both on the waterfront and on the beach volleyball court open for use. This beach also features change rooms, public washrooms, drinking water, a soccer field, a roped off children's area and a picnic shelter with tables all located at 1940 Metro Rd, Jackson’s Point. There is also a grassy section located near the beach, which can be used as a picnic space perfect for a family outing or an evening away with your friends!     Go Golfing

    Want to try a new sport? Georgina has a variety of golf courses and driving ranges available to practice your swing or take up a new hobby! Of the 7 golf courses 2 are private and available for membership but if you're interested in playing for just the day Georgina has 5 golf courses to offer you a day of fun! Try out Orchard Beach Golf & Country Club located at 273 Metro Road N, Keswick. Here you can find a beautiful nine hole course overlooking Lake Simcoe with a rich history! Established in 1926, it still retains much of the character and charm that was in the original design by Stanley Thompson, arguably the most renowned Canadian golf course architect of all time. The view of Cook's Bay from the ninth tee is one of those special memories that golfers never forget. All golfers welcome at Orchard Beach. EastBourne Golf Club, a members only club, is located at 885 Lake Drive N, Keswick and offers a 9 hole golf course that will challenge players of all levels and welcome outside tournaments and leagues. Eastbourne has some terrific golfers, and they love to compete, your skills will get tested as much as you like, but no waiting and no hurrying! Come and play a round on the challenging 9 hole course, filled with mature trees and generous fairways, here you'll get everything you're looking for and more! The Briars Golf Club, located at 127 Hedge Road in Sutton West, is a premier private golf course that featured a 18 hole Stanley Thompson/Robbie Robinson championship course. While this is a private golf course they do offer a "try and buy"! Many great overnight packages are available at The Briars Resort and Spa to extend your visit!     Hike a Trail

    Take advantage of the sun and get outside, Georgina is home to more than 20 beaches and trails waiting to be explored. Want to visit somewhere new? Check out the Nanabush Trails on Georgina Island maintained by the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation located on Hello Rd, Georgina Island! The beautiful trail is open to the public and has a variety of scenic nature views and tours the island's land and coasts!
