    Summer Wrap Up


    Throughout the months of May, June, July and August the Georgina Chamber of Commerce Summer Tourism Information Officers had the pleasure of attending a wide variety of local community events. Here we had the opportunity to show our support and dedication to Georginas Tourism and its residents! You could find us every weekend at our own Georgina Chamber of Commerce booth handing out Buyers and Discover Georgina Guides as well as information on other up and coming events or promoting the small businesses of Georgina! Our Summer Tourism Ambassadors could be found joining in on the fun and working hard taking pictures, talking to people from the community and further promoting all Georgina has to offer! Whether you are looking for information on where to eat, play or stay in Georgina we are here to help!

    We wanted to share with you a glimpse of all the fun we had this summer across Georgina as Summer Tourism Information Officers!


    Stilettos and Sneakers 

    On June 12th we hosted our 12th annual Stilettos & Sneakers Lifestyle Show for Women! The 5-hour, FREE-admission event featured over 20 vendors plus those at the Georgina Farmers' Market which due to the weather came inside The Link and joined in on the fun! The event also featured demonstrations and displays devoted to women of all ages! The turn out for this Women's Event alone was an amazing with over 300 attendees and lots of exposure for our local businesses in Georgina! Make sure to join us for our 13th annual Lifestyle Show coming to you in 2023!


    Music in the Streets

    On June 25th we supported Connors Music at the Music in The Streets Festival, at the Georgina Pioneer Village. We had lots of fun seeing new as well as familiar faces and listening to all of the beautiful music. Can’t wait to attend and see you all next year!

     

    Canada Day

    On Friday July 1st you could find us at Scot Davidson's FREE Canada Day BBQ! There was so much to see and do that we put together a video posted on our social media @discovergeorgina.ca on Instagram and Facebook to showcase it all!

     

    Canadian Tire

    On July 19th our Summer Tourism Ambassadors spent the day welcoming guests and visitors into our local Canadian Tire located in Keswick and provided information on all Georgina has to offer! You could find them all over Georgina at pop-up events in many of the local businesses you know and love; they shared the latest publications and repped our Shop Local merchandise in support of their community!

     Summer Saturdays 

    On Saturday July 23rd we attended ClearWater Farms Summer Saturdays from 9AM - 4PM! It was another beautiful day with an abundance of activities and products such as; the labyrinth, face painting, baked goods and farm fresh produce available for purchase! But the fun is not over yet! Summer Saturdays are here until October 8th! Stop by ClearWater Farms for a fun afternoon in the sun where you can explore nature, eat and drink well, shop local artisan and farmers market, have the whole family learning together with our art in nature programs or flex your mental health muscle in the fresh air for some family fun!

     

    Giant Tiger Pop-up Event

    On July 26th our Summer Tourism Ambassadors spent the day at a second Pop-up Event welcoming guests and visitors into our local Giant Tiger located in Sutton and providing information on all things Georgina!

     

    Yoga and Music Festival

    On July 30th we had the honour of attending the Yoga and Music Festival produced by Two Feathers Yoga located at ClearWater Farm! The Summer Tourism Ambassadors set up shop and spent the afternoon meeting and greeting locals and visitors for this special event! The day was filled with community fun, live music and good times! 

     

    Home Hardware Pop-up Event

    On August 2nd our Summer Tourism Ambassadors spent the day welcoming guests and visitors into our local Home Hardware located in Sutton and provided information on where to eat, play and stay in Georgina!
     


    Pefferlaw Picnic and Car Show

    On August 1st we took part in the Pefferlaw Picnic and Car Show where there were lots of children's games, a bouncy castle, a slide, zorba balls, raptor birds, watermelon eating contests, live music, model airplane display, etc. There were booths of community groups, food and drink provided by the Lion's Club, ice cream truck...lots of fun! We enjoyed every minute of the community gathering and directing tourists to other enjoyable activities and areas of Georgina!
     


    Sutton Fair and Horse Show

    You could find our Tourism Information Kiosk inside the curling club during the Sutton Fair and Horse Show among many other local vendors from Thursday August 4th to Sunday August 7th. We enjoyed speaking with attendees and providing them with information on Georgina including; flyers for upcoming events, Kid's Activity Guides, Discover Georgina and Buyer's Guides.


    Antiques on 48 Pop-up Event

    On August 9th our Summer Tourism Ambassadors spent the day welcoming guests and visitors into our local Antiques on 48 located in Sutton and provided information on where to eat, play and stay in Georgina!



    Painted Perch 

    ​​The event took place on August 13th in the Jackson's Point Parkette where businesses and residents showed off their creativity with a painted perch submission! Prizes are awarded for best painted fish in different categories. Our Tourism Information Kiosk was filled with local information and colouring sheets, something for everyone!

     

    Elpida Cafe & Roastery Pop-up Event

    On August 16th our Summer Tourism Ambassadors spent the day welcoming guests and visitors into our local Elpida Cafe & Roastery located in Keswick and provided information on where to eat, play and stay in Georgina!


    Field to Table

    On August 20th we joined Hutchings Farm in the self-guided tour consisting of nine farmers at locations across Georgina! Residents had the opportunity to explore and tour local farms with fresh produce and vendor displays! Our Tourism Information Kiosk was set up with information on where to go and what to discover in Georgina.

     

    Mobile Tourism Information Centre at De La Salle beach
    On Tuesday, August 23rd we did the official ribbon cutting of our Mobile Tourism Information Centre at De La Salle beach joined by Mayor Margaret Quirk, Ward 1 Councillor Mike Waddington, Georgina Chamber of Commerce Board Chair Susan Gorman, Director Zaheeda Rahim, Executive Director Jennifer Anderson along with office staff; Amanda Stewart and Michelle Small and our Summer Tourism Ambassadors; Logan Brown, Hailey Allen, Brooklyn Foster and Emily James. Our doors and are open every Wednesday to Sunday, 10am - 6pm, weather permitting of course! Pick up information on great places to eat, shop, play and stay as well as shop our Georgina swag! We look forward to seeing you at the beach!


    Seasonal Tourism Information Centre
    On Friday’s we opened our Seasonal Tourism Information Centre located at 35 Bellacre Road in Sutton! You can find our Summer Tourism Officers there Friday’s from 2PM- 8PM to learn more about Georgina. Here we gave our Big Blue chair a makeover with a nice new coat of paint so it is all ready for visitors to come take pictures on and enjoy the space!


    Georgina Farmers' Market 

    On Sunday’s we attend the weekly set up at the Georgina Farmers' Market! Here you can find us located inside The Link in our main office with lots of Georgina swag and information to share! But the fun is not over yet! The Farmers Market is here to stay until October 3rd! Please make sure you visit us next time you are at the Farmers’ Market!
