    South Lake Futures is a non-profit corporation providing the federal government’s Community Futures Program to the areas of East Gwillimbury, Georgina and Brock.   This program supports small business lending and provides significant community economic development resources.
    Our mission is to provide local solutions for rural economies by promoting business growth and job creation through financial support and economic development initiatives in the communities we serve.
    We currently have an employment opportunity in our organization for a Small Business Advisor. 
    Reporting to and working closely with the General Manager and the small business team, the Small Business Advisor will be responsible for developing, promoting, maintaining and delivering the business loan programs.   
    Key areas of Responsibility:

    • Providing support and reviewing services available to local businesses, small and large, as well as legislation affecting them
    • Promote and market loan services programs by prospecting, cultivating referrals, networking with business owners, other business leaders and business advisors to increase our business loan portfolio
    • Review, analyze and assess all applications for business loans
    • Facilitate sound decision making and prepare all business documentation and reporting on the business loan program
    • Evaluate the ongoing performance of businesses receiving assistance from SLF and provide reporting
    • Follow up on any overdue loans, and follow up accordingly
    • Taking a lead role in the implementation of special events
    The successful candidate in this role will have an interest in working with small businesses and social enterprises and will possess the following:    
    • Overall general financial management experience, including financial analysis, financial statement understanding, cash flow projections and budgeting
    • Experience reviewing business plans, evaluating financial statements and preparing a variety of financial/security documentation.
    • A post-secondary degree is desirable or have 3 – 5 years of related experience 
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dynamic team
